Over the next few months I'll be working in partnership with Highlife Highland to deliver a range of activities with funding from the UCI.
Night Rides
Riding at night is such a thrill, and something that every mountain biker should experience. These night rides are heavily subsidised and include light hire.
5.30pm - 7.30pm, £10pp, max 4 riders, booking required.
Sat 7 Nov – Level 5, Evanton
Balanceability
These fun sessions combine balance bikes with a schedule of balance activities that build cycling confidence and dynamic balance skills. For ages 3+ these session aren't just for toddlers, but great fun for older kids too. Limited helmets and balance bikes are available but it is preferred if you have your own for familiarity. Free with HLH membership, otherwise £4.50 per session Alness Leisure Centre Two sessions: 1000 – 1045 & 1100 – 1145 Saturdays from 16 Nov – 14 Nov (5 weeks) Contact Alness Leisure Centre to book (01349 885975) We're also planning a second round of sessions for 8 weeks from Sat 18 Jan – Sat 8 Mar.
Bike Maintenance Workshops
There will be another two rounds of free bike maintenance workshops. The first will run for 5 weeks on Saturdays 16 Nov – 14 Nov, 1-3pm in Joss Street Hall, Invergordon. The second round will start in Jan.
The first series will have a weekly topic (below) but the content isn't so strict and will be based on what the participants want to cover. They're family friendly but do consider how engaged your kid(s) will be as some of the content will get quite technical, and obviously an adult must remain with them. We encourage you to book them all as a series. Everything you'll need will be provided but feel free to bring your own bike if you want.
16 Nov - Parts of the bike & bike checks
23 Nov - Tyres, tubes & tubeless
30 Nov - Brakes
7 Dec - Gears & chains
13 Dec - Headsets, Hubs & Q&A
